Respite Care

What is respite care?

In this country it is estimated that more than 1.25 million people take care of sick or disabled relatives at home. It is usually done out of love and a sense of duty to help loved ones stay in their home surroundings. But acting as a sole carer can be wearing and many carers feel trapped and unable to get a break, especially when your loved one suffers from a long term condition such as dementia.

This where respite care comes in. We can step in and take the burden for a time to give you a well-deserved break. Some people used respite care regularly, such as for one or two nights a week. Some use it to take a summer holiday; others just ask for help when they have other important matters to deal with.

How we help

Whatever suits you, we are here to help. We have trained carers carers available who have experience taking over a carer's responsibilities for short periods. They know how important it is to build a rapport with the service user and to keep to the routines you have established.

Unlike some agencies, we do not demand a minimum period for respite care—we will try to accomodate your requirements and will work in the best interests of the service user. We listen to you and the service user and prepare a plan that suits you both.
